Sheik's Harp is one of the most recognizable instruments in gaming — a delicate, ornate piece that perfectly captures the mysterious and graceful nature of the character. This full-size cosplay build was crafted to match the in-game model from Hyrule Warriors, with particular attention paid to the sweeping curved neck, decorative gem inlays, and the distinctive blue-and-gold color palette.
The piece was built using professional cosplay construction techniques — lightweight enough for extended wear at conventions, yet sturdy enough to survive transport and photography sessions.

Work in Progress
From raw foam cuts to gold leaf application and embedded electronics — a look at the build process before the final finish.
Behind the Build
Sourced high-resolution reference images from Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors to capture every curve, inlay detail, and proportion of Sheik's iconic harp. Scaled the design to life-size dimensions for accurate cosplay use.
Created paper patterns for each harp section, then cut the primary body from high-density EVA foam. An internal thermoplastic armature provides rigidity and ensures the piece holds its shape during wear and transport.
Heat-formed the foam to achieve the graceful curved neck and body profile. Fine detail work — including the decorative inlays, gem settings, and string anchor points — was added using Worbla thermoplastic and craft foam overlays.
Applied multiple coats of Plasti-Dip to seal the foam surface and create a smooth, paintable base. Sanded between coats to eliminate texture and achieve a polished, prop-quality finish.
Hand-painted with a base coat of deep blue-violet, followed by layered metallic gold accents on the frame and trim. Gem details were painted with translucent jewel-tone acrylics. Light weathering was added to give the harp the ancient, battle-worn feel true to Sheik's character.
Tim Vittetoe builds screen-accurate props and cosplay pieces for conventions, film productions, and personal collections. From foam builds to resin casting, every piece is crafted with the same attention to detail as professional film work.
